elvishTolkien who wrote ‘Lord of the Rings’ was fascinated with language in both its spoken and written forms.  Elvish is one of many languages that he invented.  The written form is full of curves and wisps which adds to its credibility as a faerie script.

The calligraphy at left translates as A star shines on the hour of our meeting.

    One has to sometimes wonder at the *true* inspiration of Tolkien…

    Well… apparently he started inventing languages as a child and was very much inspired by Norse and Celtic languages.
